Ben Erai

...and booze!

It's one of ghost-quests. I never found the person giving this quest. Probably it's a reward for preparing five bottles of booze according to Eusebio's recipe, (but I'm not sure). It may be a bug of the game.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 1000

Swampweed for Vasco

Vasco gives this quest. You have to give him a swampweed package. You can find it in Lago (after doing few quests).

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 500
  • Attributes: Alchemy +1

Dirty doings

It's another task from Vasco. He wants you to steal the Sancho's gold (you have to say that you have been robbed). You may agree to Vasco's proposal or tell Sancho everything (then you get this reward).

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 1000

The way to gold

Another task connected with gold obsession in Ben Erai. This time it's Eusebio the alchemist who gives this quest. He wants you to rob the chests with gold. Tell Sancho about that idea.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 1500

Ten cactus flowers

Eusebio gives this quest.

It's a "bring xxx pieces of something to..." kind of quest. This time you have to bring ten cactus flowers. There are a lot of those plants growing near Ben Erai.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 1000
  • Reputation: Ben Erai +5
  • Attributes: Alchemy +1

Ten gold nuggets

Another ghost-quest. I never found the person giving this quest. Probably it's a reward for collecting ten pieces of gold nuggets from Ben Erai mine (when you get the permission to enter the mine). It may be a bug of the game.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 2500

Lukar had better get out!

Sancho gives this quest when you tell him about Lukar's plans. You have to make him to leave the town. The only way to do that is to kill Lukar. You may attack him - the Hashishin are not going to punish you. If you kill him he will not help you to liberate Braga later (but it's not a big loss - Lukar is a weak warrior).

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 1000
  • Reputation: Ben Erai +10

Crawler hunt

Vasco gives this quest.

Your job is to destroy a colony of crawlers terrorizing the area. You have to go to the nearest cave. Kill all beasts but be prepared for a tough fight - there are a lot of monsters. You complete the task after killing twelve tough sandcrawlers but there are also normal ones.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 1000
  • Reputation: Ben Erai +15

An unexpected message for Sigmor in Bakaresh

You get this quest after completing all tasks from Sancho. He gives you the letter that you have to bring to Sigmor in Bakaresh.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 500
  • Reputation: Hashishin +15

Slaves for Lago

You get this quest from Sancho when you finish the quest The tunnel of Lago (described later).

To start the mining in Lago you have to bring slaves there. Find the emaciated slave in Ben Erai and tell him to bring his friends and go to Lago. Escort him because he cannot get killed. Bring him to the mine and order to start the mining.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 1500
  • Reputation: Ben Erai +20

Liberate Ben Erai

Lukar persuades you to liberate Ben Erai. You may agree but don't count on help from Lukar: he is not eager to stand against Hashishin.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 2500
  • Reputation: Nomads +5

Bounty Hunting: Ben Erai

Campa gives this quest (he leaves on the town's border).

You have to be a bounty hunter again. This time your targets are: Yespas, Hurit and Shakyor. You can meet all of them while doing other quests.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 1500
  • Reputation: Ben Erai +20

Bounty hunting: Hurit

It's a part of quest given by Campa. Hurit is in the desert north far from Ben Erai. Hashishin Sugut wants him dead too (and vice versa). Kill Hurit and his companions (but you may use them to help you with completing another quest; it's described later).

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 1000
  • Reputation: Ben Erai +15

Bounty hunting: Yespas

It's another part of quest given by Campa. Do it as usual: find Yespas's party and kill them all (you can find Yespas near the road, west from Ben Erai).

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 1500
  • Reputation: Ben Erai +10

Talk to Vasco

Sancho gives this quest and your job is to be a messenger.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 250

A job for Sancho

Navaras the guardian of the mine entrance gives this quest. He orders you to meet Sancho and get a job from him. You have two days to do that or else Navaras kills you.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 500

The tunnel of Lago

Sancho gives this quest.

You have to go to Lago and check why there are no any gold transports from Lago. To finish this quest talk to Lago's chief Fabio.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 1000
  • Reputation: Ben Erai +5

The gold of Ben Erai

This quest is connected with Vasco's proposal (to cheat Sancho). If you agree and tell Sancho that your gold has been stolen, Vasco rewards you.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 2500

comments and responses

i've read many of the topics in the Gothic game guide section, but it's just getting too much:) And since it seems that the forum here is still active, I may just as well leave a comment. Mongo1, I really admire you for your patience in dealing with a never-ending stream of people complaining about "Why do the orcs attack me? Oh, yeah, I've liberated three towns and killed off half the orc population in Myrtana, but I really can't understand what's going on, *whine*". It's difficult for me to understand how somebody can write such things seriously, but as always - it's difficult for me to understand things.

As has been pointed out repeatedly in the comments. this guide has some bad compass directions. You need to read the comments, just like you hope people will read yours. Unfortunately, there is no edit option for the information in the guide. Apart from that it is an very good guide, but people should only use it when they are stuck. The Gothic series is best played by exploring every nook and cranny of the map. Each time I play the game(s), I find new stuff, hidden in some little hidden corner of the map.

You`re wrong in the quest about Hurit. You said he is the desert far in the north from Ben Erai. That`s not true. In the north there are only mountains. He is in the south, near the oasis in the south, just like Campa said. It just an error, but if someone reads that he will search for Hurit until he`ll go crazy:) . So remember that Hurit is in the south.

You answered your own question, many quests in Ben Erai are linked to Lago and this guide mentions that. And it does matter! And you probably missed out on some linked quests from Lago that result in additional stuff needed to complete quests in other towns. You exercised free will in a non-linear game, now you have three choices: live with the consequences, load a save game from before you liberated Lago, or restart. You can still complete the game, with option one, you just may have fewer options on how to accomplish other quests.

BTW, if you liberate a second Varant town, all other towns will then be openly hostile. It does not matter what your faction reputation is. In Myrtanna, you can liberate two towns without open hostility (Ardea, Gotha, and Venguard do not count), after the third, if you go to another town and speak to the Orc town leader, he will order an attack, all subsequent towns will attack on sight. Ditto for Varant, after second Varant liberation, talking to a town leader will result in a call to fight and subsequent towns attack on sight. Just fair warning.

I'm gonna need some help here. The only quests I could get done in Ben Erai were the sancrawler one from vasco, collecting herb for the alchemy guy, kill the guard quest from Sancho and the bounty hunting ones. Any idea why I can't get any other quests mentioned in the guild and what .I should do to get them? PS: I did liberate Lago but I don't think that matters.

for anyone having trouble on the crawlers mission, i find it very easy as you can climb the mountain on the left side of the cave and sit up there with a crossbow and take the herd down without any damage. it's too easy ..but kinda takes a while.

Once your reputation for any faction (other than Rangers or Normarians) is above 50, your deeds are well-known. It is a bad strategy to liberate towns in Varant or Myrtanna, until you are ready to make a decision. The non-linear aspect of Gothic 3 allows you the freedom to do so, but you have to deal with the consequences.

I have a major dilema. everytime I attempt to enter Ben Erai Sancho confronts me and tells me that he can not trust me because i work for the nomads and that I am a enemy of the hashishin. This then forces me to fight the whole town thus liberating it. while i have liberated Braga and Mora Sul, I dont knowwhat is happening. After this instance whenever I go to other cities like bakaresh or Ben Sala, i am attacked by the hashshin who al claim that I am in cahoots with the nomads(which i am) but still is very strange. is this a normal event or is it a glitch or what? I dont want to replay my game but it appears I may. any help would be appreciated greatly.

Another program bug, I have 100% reputation in Ben Erai, Navarras gives me permission to enter mines, but soon as I try to walk past him, he gets hostile and attacks. What gives? Do I need to enter at night?

Okay, took me a while to find him, but go to the stair tower near Campa; very near the spot you land when you use the rune. Look to the SW, (to your right of Campa) and you should see a single tree not too far away. Walk towards it, and past it in same heading, not too far past it, Yespes and his gang should appear. And yes they are just standing in the middle of the desert, no trees, no grass, no shade, but they are some what near the road back to Braga. Which Campa will tell you is now safe when you go back to him for your reward.

I apologize, but again I do not understand what you are asking. The master sword requires 2 Katanas, you should be able to buy them or the instructions to forge them. Is that what you need? What special stufff?

As you approach Lago, he is up on the hill just outside the town to your left. He has a lion with him, who if you attack Shakyor, will also fight you.
Mongo

where is Shakyor?
